Sketches for Ferdi!

Ive just begun work on a childrens book im illustrating….totally excited as its my first one!

Author JR Poulter, book designer Takara Beech & Word Wings publishing, are the awesome gang im working with…im very grateful for the oportunity, as not only is it a job, its also a great learning experience. As others artists know, its extemely competitive…getting into book illustrating not only takes hard work, you have to be of a calibre hign enough that publishers will be willing to give you a break…. this is exactly what Word Wings & Jen Poulter have done for me.

Im at the beginning of the process, developing characters for ‘Fabulous Ferdi-Horse With Heart’. The story is Very close to my heart,  which is something Jennifer is very clever at- selecting the perfect artist for each wonderful story she writes! I spent most of my life riding, training & racing horses, & my daughter did the pony club & kids racing circuit… i still love horses very much & any opportunity to ride & spend time with them is precious.

As i progress with the illustrations, i will be showing you some wips… i really hope you join me on this ride…& for those with children… release date is later this year, kids will totally fall in love with Ferdi & his friends…i know i have.

Cheers – ❤🦁🎨

Pet portrait…..landscape…..why not do both!

This began as a traditional portrait of my best mate Kuma, but somewhere along the way i decided to show more of his persona with some water, sun & space. Water is Ku’s happy place, from an inch of mud to the surf beaches near home hes happiest when in the water. The rest of the painting was playing around with shapes, colours & layer methods…Commissions are always welcome, call or email me to discuss your vision for a new artwork for your home or office.

The bond of mother & babe

Nothing is stronger than a mothers love….human or animal. This is a painting I just finished for an exhibition Art For Apes…raising money for Center For Great Apes in the US. i loved painting these two as the connection between them is so apparent while they steal a moment of peace high up in the branches. Its vital we care for their habitat, so think of this before purchasing products with palm oil. We want these & other wildlife to be there for future generations to enjoy, but we also need each species as they form the eco system that keeps our planet healthy. For info on purchasing this or other artwork contact me. copyrite: Lion Art-Michelle Webbunbreakable-bond
